Title: Shadow
Rating: G
Warnings: Nooope.
Disclaimer: Kingdom Hearts is, most obviously, owned by big name companies and not by a girl sitting at a laptop on her bedroom floor.
Summary: In which Marluxia attempts to get to the bottom of something, and Luxord leaves him feeling puzzled.
A/N: And.... the prompt doesn’t have much to do with the drabble. Oh well.
There was a rather mystifying air around Luxord that Marluxia couldn’t quite seem to place. He thought himself a rather good judge of character, even when that character was put on as an act half of the time. With Luxord, however, it never seemed clear what he wanted, or why he did what he did.
Someone had to figure out what he was up to.
“What’s your game, Luxord?” Marluxia questioned, sitting himself down across from Luxord at the dining table. (Not that Nobodies ever needed to eat, but having a dining hall without a long, grand dining table just seemed silly.)
“Anything with a dealer and four suits,” Luxord replied casually, smirking. “Why do you ask? Care for a round?”
“Not right now,” Marluxia answered, waving away the proffered deck with a look of distaste. “As fun as it sounds.”
The deck disappeared from Luxord’s hands. “If you say so. Well?”
“Well what?”
“May I go now?”
“You were just sitting here playing Solitaire!” said Marluxia testily. “You didn’t seem in a hurry to get anywhere.”
“To play Solitaire, it would require that I play alone. Which I certainly aren’t now,” Luxord commented. “Besides, I was actually playing Free Cell.”
“What difference does it make?”
“Well, in Free Cell—”
“I was not talking about the cards,” Marluxia snapped. Luxord continued to watch him calmly.
“You need to watch your stress level, Marluxia,” he told the Graceful Assassin. “You don’t want to mess anything up for the Organization.”
“What do you know about doing things for the Organization?” Marluxia retorted, taking a stab at Luxord’s inherent way of only taking missions he would actually enjoy.
“A lot more than you’d think,” Luxord said, getting up from his seat. “Speaking of which, I have somewhere to be. Until later.”
He disappeared from the room, leaving Marluxia fuming over the fact that Luxord had mastered the art of playing poker without any expression whatsoever.

Date: 2006-11-25 03:17 pm (UTC)Really like this (as usual). You got the characterization down (also as usual) and the interaction flowing very nicely (as-... I don't have to say it again, do I?)
