[Kingdom Hearts] Nine of Hearts [10/13]
Before I present the final pimp!luxord month drabble, here's the thing. I'm gonna be on vacation during the last week of this month, which runs into November. Which means that if I write any pimp!Marly fics, they'd all be at least a week late. So here's the question. Would anyone mind if I didn't do any pimp!Marly fics, or should I find the time to do them and just post them up later in the month?
That said, here we go:
(10/13)
Title: Nine of Hearts
Rating: G
Warnings: Clean as ya can get! Honestly.
Disclaimer: Kingdom Hearts is, most obviously, owned by big name companies and not by a girl sitting at a laptop on her bedroom floor.
Summary: In which Roxas fears the Dark, and Luxord tells him to stop being silly.
A/N: Why the heck does Luxord always turn out being like, some sort of cheesy philosopher? Gawd. Drabbles need no morals, darn it!
As much as Roxas hated to admit it, there was something about the Darkness that frightened him. It was the way that the Darkness could swallow you up at any second, cease your non-existence and make you disappear. Roxas didn’t want to fade away before he recovered his heart.
Secretly, every member of Organization XIII carried this concern, though some showed it more than others. No one was ever called on this, for fear that they in turn would be exposed. So it was a great surprise to Roxas when Luxord commented on this subtle dread.
“I’ve seen you fight, you know. You fight the Heartless like you can’t stand to be around them.”
Roxas worked to keep his expression vacant. “Nasty things, Heartless are,” he responded quietly. “Anyone would hurry to get rid of them.”
A smirk crossed Luxord’s face, the kind of smirk one makes when one knows something someone else doesn’t know. “You’re terrified of failing.”
“Failing?” Roxas’s expression betrayed him as a fleeting look of confusion appeared.
“Losing to the Darkness. Failing to get your heart back,” Luxord clarified leisurely, as if he were telling Roxas of the weather (or lack thereof) outside the castle. “We all are, honestly.”
The Key of Destiny stared at the older Nobody. No one talked like this in the castle. No one voiced this opinion out loud. It felt like treason, saying something like that.
“It’s easy to fake fear,” Roxas muttered, not quite sure what he was saying, or why. “And it’s easy to ignore it, too.”
“But the important thing is how much fear you fake,” Luxord remarked, going along with Roxas’s ramblings. “Too much will mess you up.”
Roxas was silent. This was a man who always seemed so laid-back, so out of it. Now he was preaching (no, not preaching, really. Preaching was something Xemnas did. This was more of a piece of advice) about thoughts that no one actually liked to dwell on.
“If you know your fear is fake, then you don’t have to be afraid of the Darkness,” the blonde gambler added, sensing Roxas’s uneasiness. “But I suppose I’ve talked too much about trivial things like that, eh? How about a round of blackjack? I won’t cheat if you won’t.”
Roxas cracked a smile at this, glancing up at Number X. “Cards would be nice, yeah.”
“I figured.” Luxord nodded, drawing out a deck of cards from nowhere. “Loser has to pull a prank on the master prankster himself, Axel.”
It was going to be an interesting couple of hours, at the very least.

You're awesome, you know that?
And I've corrupted many people with all sorts of peculiar pairings/friendships.

Oopsie-daisy, my bad.
Haha.

I wouldn't mind having Marly's come about a week after. So long as I see it.
We all will say a long and sorrowful goodbye to Pimp!Luxord Month. And I hope you have a good time on your trip/outing. And I will be waiting (im)patiently for the Marly posts.

It was nice while it lasted. Heh.

Though, ohoho, you're making me guilty now. xD I guess I should consider writing next month's ficcies then.
