[Kingdom Hearts] Intoxicated [3/6]
Sometimes, I wish I had all the time in the world so I could just sit around and beat every single video game that's sitting on my shelf, lonely and unfinished.
(3/6)
Title: Intoxicated
Rating: PG
Warnings: Nope, not that I can think of.
Disclaimer: Kingdom Hearts is, most obviously, owned by big name companies and not by a girl sitting at a laptop on her bedroom floor.
Summary: In which Xaldin recovers from a case of fern poisoning.
A/N: Hey. This could totally coincide with my old 11/3 drabble. Haha.
It had been a rather unlucky accident. In Xaldin’s scant moments of consciousness afterwards, he was quite vehement about what he was going to do to Marluxia when everything cleared up.
Poisonous ferns. It was the last thing a place like theirs needed. And yet they had spread over the castle, in need of capturing before they got everyone living there. Unfortunately, Xaldin had been the first (but thankfully, only) casualty. It was the last time he was ever helping Marluxia again, for sure.
Xaldin woke to a white ceiling. This was nothing surprising, as the majority of The Castle That Never Was happened to be white. What was more surprising was that Zexion was hovering over him, textbook in hand.
“Are you awake?”
“No, I’m actually deciding to go sleepwalking now,” Xaldin replied, groaning as he sat up on the cold operating table. “How long has it been?”
Zexion shut the book gently. “Not even two days. You’ve just been fluctuating between consciousness and unconsciousness quite a lot. Side effect of the poison, most likely.”
Xaldin glanced down, finally coming to the realization that he wasn’t wearing his boots. It felt odd, without his boots. The spot below his knee had been bandaged heavily. “Poison, yes. Why am I bandaged?”
“You got bit, remember?”
Xaldin narrowed his eyes at the wound. “Bit by a fern?”
“Peculiar fern, sir,” Zexion answered, grinning. “It should be gone by now. I’ll take the wrappings off if you like.”
The Whirlwind Lancer grunted an unenthusiastic affirmative, and Zexion set about removing the bandage. Xaldin considered asking why he was on an operating table of all places, but figured Vexen had some strange reason for it and it wasn’t worth thinking about.
“Have the rest of them gotten rid of the problem?” he inquired instead, the problem obviously being their plant infestation.
Nodding, Zexion tugged off the last of the bandages. Xaldin’s leg was perfectly healed, with not a scar in sight. “Lucky,” the younger Nobody muttered, tossing the wrappings away. “Xigbar was going on about how if you got a scar you two could be best buds.”
Xaldin snorted, letting himself down off the table. “It’ll take more than a fern to leave a mark on me, I’d like to think.”
“Of course, Xaldin,” Zexion agreed, and flipped his book back open. “Your boots are by the door. Have fun teaching Marluxia not to mess with science he doesn’t understand.”
“My favorite job.”
